"The Kitchen God's Wife" by Amy Tan

Here is an exert from the book:

After we left Kweiyang, we drove higher and higher into the hills, then into the mountains. Hulan and I were staring over the side of the truck, very quite. Just to see that steep cliff made us feel as if we were already tumbling down. The road became skinnier and skinnier.

This is truly one of the best books I have read. I couldn't put it down!

It starts off with Winnies daughter narrating & you think Winnie is just a silly little Chinese lady, but boy when she starts telling her story you sure get a different perspective. It is Fascinating! The trials & tribulations she lived thru during war torn China & how she triumphed over her adversary's.

I believe some other readers must have greatly enjoyed this book, as I have had to tape the cover back on it.

What good books have you read lately?

I'm glad you enjoyed that book. I've read just one other of Amy Tan's and it was even better.

Right now I'm reading a time travel book called The Drums of Autumn. It's really good, but I didn't realize that it is the 4th in a series until I started reading it...

I am re-reading the Anne of Green Gables books and thoroughly enjoying them, but will put The Kitchen God's Wife on my list for when I finish! It sounds great and I have never read any of Amy Tan's books.
