Milk Baby's

These calf's are orphans, so we are feeding them milk.

It took them awhile to figure out what it was, but now they are waiting for you morning & night to bring them a bucket of milk, which they slurp up greedily!

Chicken or Dog?

This chicken seems to think she's a dog.

As soon as I open the chicken coop door in the morning, she heads for the house and hangs out around the porch with the dogs all day. She wanders into the garage and I have even seen her lounging in the dog house.

Silly chicken!

House full of girls

My husband Willie had a house full of girls this week & enjoyed every minute.

Two of his sisters & two nieces drove out from Wisconsin. We had not seen them for over 20 years, so it was good to get to know them again.

We packed allot into the two and a half days they where here. We got to bed late & up early, so I'm sure everyone is feeling a bit tired.

His sisters talked Willie into dragging out his guitars, so we had a jam session one night. They did "Puff the Magic dragon", "Blowing in the Wind", & other old folksy songs. His niece Andria is a music major.

Sister Twila is a baker. Willie has quite a sweet tooth, so Twila & Becky baked Delicious cookies & pies, some that are in our freezer for later consumption.

We target practiced with the 22 rifle & pistol off the back porch & went 4-wheeling all around the ranch.

We have the neatest rocks & agates here, so we gathered a bucket full & some sage brush for them to take back as souvenirs.

Niece Katrina is an artist and is going to do a painting for us. I can't wait to see her masterpiece!

Day Lilly's

"Start by doing what's necessary,
then do what's possible,
and suddenly you are doing the impossible."

My day Lilly's are finally blooming. I planted them last fall and wasn't sure they would survive the long, cold winter. But here they are sprouting out pretty yellow flowers.

The Old & The New

We took a trip to Montana This weekend.

While driving out thru some old farms & ranches we saw quite a few old windmills. The ranchers had them out in different places & used them to pump water for livestock.

After exploring some of the old country, we got on the highway & headed north to Lewistown. As we came up over the horizon, there loomed giant, modern windmills.

They are spectacular, huge, white beasts, rising out of the landscape.

Isn't it fantastic that we can produce electricity this way!

Blue Flax

Blue flax are some of my favorite flowers.

I dug up this clump last year, so I would have some at my new house & they are thriving.

I love the vibrant blue color & they continue to bloom all Summer long. new flowers pop out every morning, as long as they have adequate water.

They are a pretty hardy plant. I have seen them planted along roadways, blooming away.

25 years ago after our wedding, Willie & stacey, as newly weds drove from Elgin, Oregon to Cody, Wyoming. We stayed at a pretty bed & breakfast called "The Lockhart Inn".

Cindy, the owner had planted Blue Flax in all of the flower box's.

The Lockhart Inn is still open for business. It was the famous Caroline Lockharts house & is authentically re-done in the Victorian style of the early 1900's.

If you are ever in the Cody area stop by & have a look. if you stay you may even see the ghost of Caroline Lockhart. Her presents is still seen & felt in the house.
