The Old & The New

We took a trip to Montana This weekend.

While driving out thru some old farms & ranches we saw quite a few old windmills. The ranchers had them out in different places & used them to pump water for livestock.

After exploring some of the old country, we got on the highway & headed north to Lewistown. As we came up over the horizon, there loomed giant, modern windmills.

They are spectacular, huge, white beasts, rising out of the landscape.

Isn't it fantastic that we can produce electricity this way!

Blue Flax

Blue flax are some of my favorite flowers.

I dug up this clump last year, so I would have some at my new house & they are thriving.

I love the vibrant blue color & they continue to bloom all Summer long. new flowers pop out every morning, as long as they have adequate water.

They are a pretty hardy plant. I have seen them planted along roadways, blooming away.

25 years ago after our wedding, Willie & stacey, as newly weds drove from Elgin, Oregon to Cody, Wyoming. We stayed at a pretty bed & breakfast called "The Lockhart Inn".

Cindy, the owner had planted Blue Flax in all of the flower box's.

The Lockhart Inn is still open for business. It was the famous Caroline Lockharts house & is authentically re-done in the Victorian style of the early 1900's.

If you are ever in the Cody area stop by & have a look. if you stay you may even see the ghost of Caroline Lockhart. Her presents is still seen & felt in the house.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow

"Somewhere over the rainbow blue birds fly.

They're flying high over that old rainbow.

Why, oh why can't I."

This is what I saw when I went out to feed my chickens this morning. What an awesome sight! Can you imagine sailing over the canyons & tree tops in a go cart, under a rainbow.

Needless to say, my chickens didn't get fed for awhile.

I watched in awe, until it sailed off, into the wild blue yonder.

Invasion of the Giant Moth's

Every Summer we get invaded by moths. Dusty, brown little creatures, that can slip in the tiniest of cracks. They make a mess of my windows & doors.

I'm always surprised when I see the giant moths. They really are pretty.

Have you herd the legend of "The Mothman"?

The state of West Virginia has played home to one of the most bizarre "pseudo-cryptids" ever reported, the unusual- mothman.

The first sighting came in the early 1960's. A woman was driving along Rout 2, near the Ohio river, with her father. As she neared the Chief Cornstalk hunting grounds, a large man shaped figure walked out onto the road. As the woman slowed her car, the figure spread two large wings and took off.

The legend continues with many more sighting & stories.

Some people believe the Mothman sightings are a warning sign of impending disaster.

Cowboy Roy

A good old Cowboy passed away.

I met Roy the Summer I turned 15.

My big sister Susan had gotten a job in Wyoming at Absorka Mnt. Lodge.

Several girls quit, so they needed more help. With Mom's approvel, I packed my green duffel bag, jumped on the bus and headed for Cody.

Roy was the horse wrangler at Absorka Lodge. You could usually find him up at the corrals taking care of the horses & tack. He always wore a silver bellie hat & a red snap down shirt tucked into his blue jeans.

The owners daughter Julie & I became fast Friends. Most days after cleaning cabins, we would head up to the corrals, saddle a horse & take off somewhere fun.

Roy taught me how to rope & even gave me a larriette. He said to be a good roper you had to practice all the time & rope anything you saw. We got pretty good at roping fence posts.

We where 40 miles out of town, so didn't get in very often. Those who where going to town would often have a list of supplies to pick up for everyone elns.

Roy told a story of having to go to the store to buy a bra for a lady. It was a 46 DDD.

Roy, we will miss your story's & your good character.

I'm thinking you are up at the corral in the sky, with your horses & rope.

Fluffless

This is Fluffy.

She just got her annual hair cut. She is a Collie cross, so normally has a body full of fluffy hair. When she was a pup, she looked like a little ball of fur with a nose. Hence, the name "fluffy"

The first time I got Fluffy's hair cut I didn't even recognize my dog when I went to pick her up.

We will have to call her Fluffless for awhile!

My New Chair

I have a thing for chairs. I just like them. Especially small chairs that I can place in random spots about the house.

It's nice to have a chair available when you feel like sitting to take a little break and perhaps reading a page, or a few chapters in your currant book.

I didn't even realize that I had this affliction until we moved from a large house into a small one and I had a huge stack of chairs in storage.

This is my latest find. I acquired it at a yard sale today for $25.00.

It's sturdy & in great shape. Isn't it adorable?
